Dr. Kelly Blundy began her career as a chiropractor and over the past 15 years, she has furthered her knowledge and received her full certification in functional medicine from the Institute of Functional Medicine. She is one of the 2000, MD’s, DO’s, DC’s and NP’s in the world, that holds this certification. She has had a lifelong passion for helping others live their best life and provides personalized treatments to help patients achieve their health goals through her practice in New Jersey. With an impressive educational background, years of experience, and involvement in many community services, Dr. Blundy is a leader in the field of functional medicine and helping patients get to the root cause of disease.
Dr. Blundy began her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in human biology and her Doctorate in Chiropractic from Logan University. In addition, she completed her post-doctoral training at the Institute of Functional Medicine as well as certification courses in Extremity Adjusting, Neurological Diagnosis and Treatment, Radiology, Dynamic Spinal Analysis, and Soft Tissue Techniques including Active Release Technique, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial and Positional Release Techniques. Dr. Blundy has finished a rigorous postgraduate and continuing education course in Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA) & Active Release Technique ART. Both of these techniques have had incredible results with many conditions causing chronic pain and dysfunction.
Dr. Kelly has cultivated a deep understanding of the human body which she uses to help her patients on their journey to optimal health through an integrative approach tailored specifically for them.
Dr. Blundy follows the functional medicine model which focuses on treating the underlying causes rather than just masking symptoms with medication or other quick fixes that don’t address the root cause of chronic conditions such as systemic arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, or thyroid imbalances. This model seeks to understand how various factors are related to each other and how they affect our overall health such as genetics, lifestyle habits like diet and exercise; environment; stress levels; sleep quality; etc., By taking all these factors into account during treatment, instead of just focusing on one symptom at a time makes this approach much more effective over traditional treatments that only cover up symptoms while not addressing what’s causing it in the first place.
Besides treating patients at The Spine and Health Center and taking care of her two children Hudson who is 9 and Emma who is 7, Dr. Blundy along with her husband Dr. Wohl, spend a considerable amount of time giving back to the community through different activities. Before the COVID-19 pandemic started she was very active in taking outreach trips to provide healthcare services such as basic medical care and chiropractic services in impoverished areas around the world where access to quality healthcare isn’t easy or even available for some people because of financial constraints or lack of infrastructure. Her last trip was to Casa Guatemala. Additionally, she also sits on different boards such as the New Jersey Chiropractic Board Of Examiners, Pascack Valley Board Of Education, New Jersey Doctor-Patient Alliance, and CIANJ. This allows her to make an impact beyond just treating patients within four walls of her practice, but to also be part of the decision-making process related to the healthcare industry.
Dr. Kelly Blundy stands out among other doctors due to her passion for helping others improve their lives through the holistic approach she takes while treating them with a combination of techniques. Dr. Kelly is not only passionate about providing quality healthcare but also committed to using what she has learned and acquired over her decades-long career to make a positive impact on both local communities as well entire healthcare industry.
