I don’t only perform adjustments.
Contrary to popular belief, evidence-based chiropractors do way more than just adjust you then let you go. Evidence-based chiropractors integrate hands-on, manual therapy with education, exercise, and self-management strategies. These therapies are used to reduce pain, tension, stiffness, and get you to move better.
Chiropractors are trained to apply a wide variety of treatments that include more than a joint mobilization, manipulation, or adjustment. All of the chiropractors here at the Spine & Health Center of New Jersey are trained in different soft tissue techniques, including but not limited to, Active Release Technique (ART), Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), Fascial Manipulation, and many more. Evidence-based chiropractors such as ourselves are also trained to integrate functional rehabilitation and targeted exercise to help patients feel well, stay active, and pursue their goals with confidence!
Different conditions and injuries respond differently to interventions and each person is unique, meaning that they respond differently to treatments. With that said, chiropractors don’t treat the symptoms – they treat the individual as a whole. Each treatment plan is catered to the patient based on what his or her functional goals are.
But it doesn’t stop there! As stated above, patient education plays a major role. Whether it’s education on activity modifications, proper lifting mechanics, or even return-to-sport, chiropractors spend time to educate you on your condition, how to manage it, and how to not only get out of pain, but also stay out of pain.
You are not out of alignment! Your bones don’t go out of place.
One of my favorite and most common things that I hear patients say is “well my old chiropractor told me that I’m out of alignment and that is why I’m in pain.” Breaking News: You don’t go “out of alignment” and chiropractors don’t “put bones back in place”! Our bodies are extremely resilient. They don’t just go out of place.
I don’t only treat necks and backs!
Contrary to popular belief, chiropractors don’t only treat necks and backs. Don’t get me wrong, we definitely have your back (pun intended), but chiropractors have the knowledge and training to treat a wide variety of conditions ranging from sprained ankles and knees to rotator cuff tears to all kinds of sports-related and other injuries.
